A BRITISH QUICK AND EASY WINTER DISH



INGREDIENTS
500G BEEF MINCE
OLIVE OIL
2 ONIONS
1 GARLIC CLOVE
TOMATO PUREE
1 BEEF STOCK CUBE
6 POTATOES
BUTTER
GRATED CHEESE
SALT AND PEPPER
2 CARROTS
GRAVY GRANULES
RECIPE
PEEL THE CARROTS AND CUT THEM INTO SMALL CHUNKS AND ADD TO A PAN OF BOILING WATER TO COOK UNTIL SOFT
CUT UP THE POTATOES INTO LARGE CHUNKS AND ADD TO A PAN OF BOILING WATER TO COOK UNTIL SOFT TO MAKE INTO MASH
AT THE SAME TIME
ADD A DROP OF OLIVE OIL TO A FRYING PAN AND ADD IN THE MINCE BEEF AND ONION TO COOK. ONCE THE ONIONS ARE SOFT AND THE MEAT IS BROWN ADD IN THE CHOPPED GARLIC, SALT AND PEPPER.
NOW ADD IN A LARGE DOLLOP OF TOMATO PUREE AND MIX. THEN ADD 1 BEEF STOCK CUBE ALONG WITH 400ML BOILING WATER AND SIMMER UNTIL THE POTATOES ARE NEARLY SOFT.
THEN ADD IN 4-5 LARGE SPOONFULS OF GRAVY GRANULES TO THICKEN. ADD MORE IF IT NEEDS TO BE THICKER AND ADD THE CARROTS TO THE STEW.
ONCE THE POTATO IS SOFT, DRAIN, MASH AND ADD THE BUTTER
NOW POUR THE STEW INTO A DEEP OVENPROOF DISH AND THEN PLACE THE MASH ON TOP. SPREAD IT EVENLY AND THEN SPRINKLE OVER THE GRATED CHEESE ON TOP.
BAKE IN THE OVEN ON 170°(FAN) FOR 20-30 MINUTES UNTIL GOLDEN ON TOP AND THEN DISH OUT
